ASBP MEETING AND NUTRITION AND METABOLISM SOCIETY SYMPOSIUM

The annual meeting of The American Society of Bariatric Physicians is being held in Seattle this week. (Dr. Mary C. Vernon is a past president of this group.) The Nutrition and Metabolism Society is hosting a symposium on Saturday and Sunday as part of the convention. The top researchers, writers, physicians, and experts in the field of nutrition, diet, and health will be attending and speaking. The event is scheduled to take place at the Hilton hotel near the airport about an hour’s drive from where I live, so there is no way I would miss this opportunity to meet some of my heroes in person and to get to renew acquaintances with friends that I already know and meet others that I know only by reputation and online.

The list of those who will be there reads like a Who’s Who of low-carb experts; speakers will include Gary Taubes, Dr. Richard Feinman, Dr. Vernon, Jackie Eberstein, Dr. Jay Wortman, and the authors of The New Atkins for a New You: Dr. Eric Westman, Dr. Jeff Volek, and Dr. Stephen Phinney, among others. I have also heard that Laura Dolson from about.com, Nora Gedgaudas, author of Primal Body—Primal Mind, Jimmy and Christine Moore, Jeff Clinger, and Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt from Sweden will be attending. All the rock stars of my world… and they are coming to me this time!

The working title for my first book was, “You’ll Never Know What You Are Missing.” It summed up my goal: to make eating for health synonymous with eating for pleasure. Once you discover the secret, you will find that the very best food for weight management, longevity, the treatment and prevention of disease, and over-all health and happiness is also the most sumptuous, satisfying, and indulgent way of eating the world has to offer. You are invited to the feast. Enjoy!

Judy,
I am so excited about the things I am seeing. More and more talk on TV and in the news about Carbohydrate related illnesses lately.
So glad you get to attend this!
